TECHNOLOGY & SKILLS
Making technology useful.
I build applications, improve workflows and turn data into useful insights.
My background spans software development, Microsoft 365 and data analytics. I enjoy understanding a problem, finding a practical approach and building something that makes life easier.

From web applications to internal tools, I work across the interface, application logic and data behind a solution.
My experience includes C# and ASP.NET, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, alongside SQL Server and API integration.
Where I've applied it
At NCG, my work included bespoke ASP.NET applications integrated with SharePoint, custom web parts and workflows.

I use Microsoft 365 and the Power Platform to connect information, automate repetitive tasks and make business processes easier to manage.
That includes Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI and SharePoint, with a focus on the people using the solution.
Where I've applied it
At Northumberland County Council, I developed Power Platform solutions tailored to departmental needs, collaborating with stakeholders and providing support and training.

Recent focus. A broader foundation.
My recent work has centred on Microsoft 365 and the Power Platform, building on earlier experience in application development and data systems. The distinction below reflects where I have applied these skills, rather than a percentage rating.
Microsoft 365 & practical delivery
- Power Apps & Power Automate
- Developing business applications and automated workflows around departmental needs.
- Power BI & Microsoft 365
- Bringing information together through reporting and solutions within the Microsoft ecosystem.
- Requirements & stakeholder collaboration
- Understanding processes, clarifying needs and translating them into practical solutions.
- Support, training & communication
- Helping people adopt a solution, explaining how it works and supporting its ongoing use.
Recent context: Microsoft 365 Developer roles at Fizeau Consulting (2023) and Northumberland County Council (2024–2025).
Development, databases & data systems
- C#, ASP.NET & web development
- Application development using .NET, HTML, CSS and JavaScript across earlier software roles.
- SQL Server & API integration
- Working with databases, connecting systems and maintaining data-driven applications.
- AWS & data engineering
- Experience supporting data systems, reporting and third-party integrations at TUI.
- SharePoint development & Sitecore
- Earlier work with custom SharePoint applications and workflows at NCG, and Sitecore development at Sage.
Earlier context: roles including NCG (2013–2016), Sage (2021) and TUI (2021–2022). These remain part of my experience, with recency depending on the particular technology.
HOW I WORK
Start with the problem.
Build around the people.
I'm comfortable working independently or with a team. Gathering requirements, explaining technical choices and helping people use a solution are part of the work, alongside writing the code.
Teaching and supporting others have also been part of my career. I value clear communication and practical learning.
The tools behind my work →AI & AUTOMATION
New tools. Practical possibilities.
I’m interested in how AI and automation can support real work: developing software, exploring ideas and connecting the steps in a process. This is a developing part of my toolkit, alongside my established experience with Microsoft 365 and the Power Platform.
01 / AI-ASSISTED DEVELOPMENTBuilding with Codex
I’m using Codex to develop and refine this personal website, from exploring layouts to implementing pages and making iterative changes.
It gives me a practical setting for exploring AI-assisted development, with decisions about the content, design and final result remaining mine.
02 / AI COLLABORATIONWorking with Claude
Claude is part of the AI toolkit I’m exploring alongside other assistants. I’m interested in how these tools can support reasoning, writing and technical work.
The aim is to find useful ways to work with AI while checking its output and applying my own judgement.
03 / AI EXPLORATIONExploring Google Gemini
I’m also exploring Google Gemini as part of my wider AI toolkit, trying different approaches to research, ideas and technical questions.
I’m interested in where each assistant is useful, how their answers compare and how they can support practical work alongside my own judgement.

Learning through practical work
This website is one example of my work with AI-assisted development. I’ll share further projects and workflow examples as they take shape, rather than present experimentation as completed client delivery.
